Make Plans for January: start the New Year Right

January is upon us, and we are all getting excited for a fresh start and our New Year’s resolutions. Here are a few easy tips to set you off on the right foot and make 2018 a year of health and happiness!

 

Prep, prep and more prepping:

We all know what it’s like to be short on time and run out of the house grabbing the first thing we see whether it be a healthy option or not.  What can be even worse is coming to work or going about your day with no food packed and then turning to the nearest fast food option we can find. Meal prepping is a fantastic way to stay on track and isn’t as hard as you think it is! Find some recipes you love for healthy balanced meals, set aside a morning or afternoon to cook and get to prepping. Place all of your cooked meals into Tupperware or containers and you are good to go for a week of well balanced meals!  You can also keep healthy snacks in your car, office or bag so you can always be prepared such as jerky, nuts, no sugar added dried fruit etc.

 

Create a Vision Board:

You know what your goals are; now it’s time to visualize them, and what better way to do that than a vision board you can look at every day. Flip through magazines, browse the internet and start gathering photos that show what you want to achieve in the New Year. It can be your dream body, new recipes you want to try, destinations you want to travel to whatever you envision for yourself in the New Year goes on the board. If you take time visualize the life you want it will come to fruition!

 

Create Realistic Goals:

You’re eager to get started on your path to health the moment it turns 2018, you want to go to every gym class, try every new fad diet etc… We get it, it’s exciting to start on the path to a healthier life but you have to create goals that are attainable and realistic to you. Start with mini goals and work your way up IE: Lose 5 pounds, then 10 pounds, then 25 pounds etc. When you break up your big goal into smaller goals it creates a big task into a not so daunting one makes you feel proud along the way to that final goal!


2018 will be YOUR year to shine and become the healthiest version of you. Give yourself grace and pick yourself back up when you stumble, we all will.  The greatest motivator to keep you going long after January ends is remember WHY you started on this journey, and it will never end!
